Netherlandish Art: 1400-1600 by Henk van Os, The period from 1400 to 1600 was a fascinating one in Netherlandish art art work and history, encompassing the late Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Iconoclasm, the Dutch Revolt, art work and the northern cities' conversion to the Protestant faith, which put an end to the previously close ties between north art work and south. This handsome book presents an overview of the period by means of a selection of one hundred works of art in different media taken from the unparalleled collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
